What You’ll Be Doing

  • Set and own the end-to-end technology and AI strategy to drive retail growth, margin improvement, and standout customer experiences.
  • Lead, grow, and mentor high-performing engineering, data, and platform teams, creating a delivery-focused, collaborative culture.
  • Oversee architecture and delivery of scalable, secure systems across e‑commerce, in‑store technology, data platforms, and core retail integrations (POS, ERP, inventory, CDP).
  • Drive the design, build, and deployment of AI solutions such as recommendation engines, demand forecasting, pricing optimisation, search, and marketing personalisation.
  • Make clear build / buy / partner decisions on AI and retail technology, balancing innovation speed, cost, and long-term resilience.
  • Translate complex technical and AI concepts into clear, commercial language for executives, the board, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ensure strong practices in security, data governance, privacy, and compliance across all platforms and workflows.

What You’ll Bring

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, Data, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Deep experience with modern data and AI stacks (cloud platforms, data pipelines, MLOps, LLMs / generative AI) applied in a retail, e‑commerce, or consumer environment.
  • Proven track record as a CTO, VP Engineering, or equivalent senior technology leader, shipping AI-enabled products into production at scale.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to link technology decisions directly to customer outcomes and P&L impact.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and scale high-performing engineering and data teams in fast-paced, evolving environments.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with confidence operating at executive and board level.
  • Comfort balancing hands-on technical depth with strategic leadership across product, data, and operations.
