AI Transformation Lead - 2 year fixed term contract

Our client is seeking a senior AI transformation leader to help shape safely, practically and effectively uses AI across the organisation. This role will lead the development of their AI strategy, identify high-value use cases, oversee pilots through to production, and ensure strong governance, risk management and workforce capability uplift. Sitting at the intersection of strategy, technology, operations and change, this person will help translate AI from opportunity into measurable business and care outcomes.

What you’ll be doing
  • Lead our clients AI strategy, roadmap and portfolio, aligned to organisational priorities, regulatory requirements and investment constraints.
  • Identify and prioritise AI use cases across clinical, workforce, operational and corporate functions.
  • Oversee AI pilots, proofs of concept and experiments, and guide successful initiatives into production and business-as-usual support.
  • Define AI architecture approaches, resolve data and integration dependencies, and ensure solutions are secure, scalable and commercially viable.
  • Establish and embed AI governance, including risk assessment, ethical use, privacy, compliance, auditability and appropriate controls.
  • Partner with executives, business leaders, technology teams, People & Culture and change teams to support adoption and responsible use of AI.
  • Build AI literacy and confidence across the workforce, while reducing unmanaged or ad hoc AI use.
  • Provide trusted advice to executives and the Board on AI opportunities, risks, maturity and investment decisions.
  • Work with external vendors and partners to assess solutions, validate claims, and support effective delivery outcomes.
What you bring to the role
  • Significant senior experience leading digital, data or AI-enabled transformation in complex organisations.
  • Hands-on experience designing, testing and implementing AI or advanced analytics solutions.
  • Strong understanding of AI architecture, data pipelines, integrations, model lifecycle management and production readiness.
  • Experience taking AI initiatives from pilot stage through to operational deployment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build governance frameworks and manage risk in regulated environments.
  • Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to balance innovation, practicality and control.
  • Proven change leadership capability, including workforce capability uplift and stakeholder engagement.
  • Confidence communicating complex technical, operational and ethical issues to senior executives and Boards.
  • A collaborative, pragmatic and outcomes-focused style, with the ability to influence across diverse teams.
  • High integrity, sound judgement and a strong commitment to responsible AI use.
